Don’t slow your meetings with useless tech
Tired of your staff checking email during your meetings? Annoyed that your workers spend time logging onto Facebook while you’re talking about company strategies? You’re not the only one. Laptops, smartphones and tablets are fantastic tools. Even so technology can play havoc in your company meetings.
The Solution
Because of this Jake Knapp, design partner at Google Ventures, writes in a recent post on the Medium Web site that staff ought to be forbidden from carrying technology into meetings. Supervisors, then, will have a far less challenging time attracting the interest of their employees.
Low-tech
Knapp proposes that employees bid farewell to their laptops, smartphones and tablets before going into a meeting. This makes sure they focus on what you’re announcing and not a raunchy joke sent to them by their best buddy.
An end time
And to provide hope to your suddenly tech-deprived employees? Set up a timer so that everyone in the meeting can see it. When that timer chimes, the meeting is finished – no matter what.
